    my plan has been dislocated...

    I even question myself...

    hold on a second buddy...

do you ever have a plan...

when I went to Uni...I was interested in Economics...

However the job outlook looked bad.....and pretty scared of math..

    then walked away.....

and then it looked like I meant to do finance....

but got 100 at financial accounting...

I didn't even got any thing like that at my primary school...

soon after I came to OZ..

    decided to do accounting..

not because of the PR thing...

to be honest I didn't even think about it....

just coz I got a passion in it....

I knew I can do it very good...

    still scared of math....

    stuff like quantitative method.....econometrics.....

    still walked away.....

even through I was able to manage to get H1 from my QM2 class....

but honestly I didn't know what I learnt from it.....

at that time I thought Melbourne Uni definitely will be going down......

how could a student get a H1 without knowing what is being taught in this class....

    anyway.. the story continues ........

    而且因为隔夜拆借利率的上调,而它又是利率的利率。所以它的走高很可能会带动市场利率的上扬,而无论任何生意都要跟银行打交道的。那么所必须付的利息(interest)就是他们很重要的成本,那么利息的过度升高就可能导致大市的不景气而使商业周期(business cycle)进入收缩(recession)。以上种种也就是为什么此次的信贷危机会有如此深远的影响了。

    大致解决的办法?

    絮絮叨叨的讲了那么久,总要开付药给个解决的办法不是。解决的办法有两个,但是在讲之前让我们再了解一个很简单的概念――国内生产总值,也就是大家所熟知的GDP(gross domestic product).他的好坏是衡量现在市场景气程度的一个很重要的指标。

    它是由大众消费,政府支出,透支和净出口来决定的。

    GDP=consumption + investment + government spending + net exports

    (如果连这个都不理解的同学,请回去补一下宏观经济学基础了。。。。。。。我推荐保罗 萨谬而森的书,记得是20章有说GDP)

    书归正传,因为次级信贷危机的爆发,导致大市的不景气,银行收紧银根。那么消费者的信心之数(confidence)必然下降,那么我们看到GDP中的大众消费(consumption)必然减少,从而导致GDP的下降。

    为了解决这个问题,政府可以首先通过财政政策(fiscal policy),缓解危机。也就是说政府可以增加自身支出(government spending)比如增加公共设施的建设,来拉动内需带动GDP的增长。同时,政府才可以调低税率,让百姓拥有更多的可支配收入(disposable income),这样对于增强消费信心有一定好处。

    其次政府当然可以动员货币政策(monetary policy).简单的说政府可以增加市场上的货币总量,调低利息(大家不要忘了,美国有个东东叫做美联储)。这样对于减轻市面上银根收紧的状况会有很大的改善。

    讲了那么许多。希望大家明白了些。没明白了也不好意思了,毕竟我的专业不是经济也不是金融,很多东西我不能讲的那么专业,其中某些部分甚至有所偏颇,就多见谅了。。。。

Kevin Rudd, Fresh Leader, Better Future??

Kevin Rudd used his keynote speech to accuse John Howard of being arrogant and out of touchRecently Kevin Rudd, the opposition leader of Labor party, was being elected as the 26th prime minister of Australia. Where the Australians will be directed to by this new leader is under a great concern. However, given the fact he is the first leader in western countries who can speak fluent mandarin and the great new leadership he has promised for the electors, the new era for Australian is on its way.

There are certain things that Australian people care in particular. First of all, whether Australia is going to continue its extraordinary economy growth is among the top priority of the new government’s agenda. During recent years, we have seen an approximate 4% increase in GDP each year, as a result Australian people have been experiencing blossom in real estate market, remarkably low unemployment rate, and great business opportunity in Asia. All that factors push Australian per capita GDP to $32,900(American dollar) a record high. The question arises whether the successor of Liberal party can keep up the good work. In order to address this issue, two key questions need to be answered in the first place.

Whether the Australian economy is heading towards the right direction is the chief issue. Despite the fact that our economy is going well, the truth is the main contribution of the growth has been coming from the mining industry. As known to all, when an economy is heavily depending on one or a few industries it would not be regarded as a healthy one. The reasons for Australia, in particular, are as the follows:

There are two scenarios likely to happen. Firstly, the world still largely relies on our energy supply but on some future date our mineral deposit is exhausted. Then subsequently the main driver of our economy will be vanished. Further, even though we might still have our large mineral deposit, but countries like USA or China advance their technology to such extend that they find an alternative as energy supply. For example, China is able to manager generate electricity out of He3 which they get from the moon and this is what its outer space project is aiming for. Then our energy like uranium will be not longer sought after by the world. Our economy is going to lose again. Based on above analysis, Australian economy is not fundamentally heading to the right direction. Hopefully, Kevin Rudd has addressed this issue in his competition of running for the primer.

The second issue which intertwines with the first one is Mr. Rudd’s capability to conduct Australian economy toward the right direction and better serve the national interest. According to Mr. Rudd’s profile, he spent nearly all his career before being elected as prime minister as a professional diplomatist. This gives raise a serious issue in relation to if the new primer and his party is able to run the economy as they planned since the last time labor ruled this country was 1985.

Apart from the issue in transition of economy, Mr. Rudd’s ability and determination to forge a tighter link with Pacific Asia are also being widely discussed. Some people believe that the affinity for this area that the new Primer has shown will further elevate the friendship between the countries in this area and China in particular. On the contrary, some oppose that Mr. Rudd’s personal strength of speaking mandarin will not fundamentally change Australian foreign affair policy for the fear of losing its traditional ally the United States. It is, therefore, best to assume that in this regard it makes on difference whether John Howard or Kevin Rudd is in power, as their priority is to defend Australian national interest.

China's old party bosses step down

CHINESE Vice-President Zeng Qinghong retired from the Communist Party's upper ranks yesterday, bolstering party boss Hu Jintao's grip on power and clearing the way for a younger generation of leaders.

Mr Zeng, 68, a powerful party boss long associated with Mr Hu's predecessor, Jiang Zemin, was left off the newly elected Central Committee of 204 full members.

Delegates wound up their five-yearly congress by approving the writing of Mr Hu's trademark slogans into the party charter, overshadowing those of Mr Jiang.

Mr Hu was also the top vote-getter in the tightly controlled ballot, winning all but two of the 2235 votes, a delegate said.

Mr Zeng's departure from the committee along with two other leaders, security chief Luo Gan, 72, and anti-corruption boss Wu Guanzheng, 69, indicates that Mr Hu will soon be able to announce the promotion of potential successors.

Vice-Premier Wu Yi, one of the few women in the political elite and an experienced trade tsar, was left off as well, indicating she will also likely leave government next March.

The full members of the new committee will appoint a politburo of a few dozen members and a politburo standing committee, the innermost ring of power with possibly nine members.

The party charter will now feature Mr Hu's promises to create a "harmonious society" cleansed of conflict and a "scientific outlook on development", which balances economic growth and environmental and welfare protections.

That Mr Hu has now been able to elevate his key ideas with many years still in office shows his growing influence, analysts say. His predecessor, Mr Jiang, took 13 years before he was able to push his trademark notions into the party charter shortly before his retirement in 2002.

"Hu has managed to get it in after only five years, and he has five more years to use it to shape the political environment and influence China's development pattern," said Joseph Fewsmith of Boston University.

But more than slogans, the membership of the elite bodies will tell how much power Mr Hu wields and how he intends to use it, and who his potential successors and rivals are.

"Hu has the power. It's now up to him to decide how he wants to use it and what he wants to do," political analyst Li Datong said.

"But Hu won't be adventurous. That's not in his nature, and the party and country have already formed interest groups that any leader would find it very difficult to move."

Li Keqiang, a party boss who worked under Mr Hu in the Communist Youth League, is a frontrunner for promotion. The party's new inner core is also likely to include Shanghai party boss Xi Jinping and other, younger faces who do not necessarily have longstanding ties with Mr Hu.

    Bhutto homecoming turns to horror

Stunned and injured survivors wait for help close to the truck Ms Bhutto was travelling in.

    Retrieved from The AGE

Two car-bomb explosions hit former Pakistani prime minister Benazir Bhutto's convoy today, killing at least 45 people as she returned to Pakistan from eight years in self-imposed exile.

Police said at least 126 people died and 240 people were injured in the blasts in the port city of Karachi, which appeared to be carried out by at least one suicide attacker. Local hospitals reported 45 dead. At least 20 police were among the dead, officials said.

Ms Bhutto, 54, who was travelling in a heavily-armoured truck, was unhurt, officials said.

"Benazir Bhutto was immediately taken to her ancestral Bilawal house after the blast,'' interior ministry spokesman Javed Cheema said. "She's absolutely safe.''

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has confirmed there were no Australians injured in the suicide bombings, but investigations were continuing.

"At this stage, there are no reports of Australian casualties in this incident, but our High Commission in Islamabad is checking whether any Australians have been affected and can provide consular assistance to those who might require it," A DFAT spokeswoman told The Age.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister John Howard, speaking on ABC radio this morning, said he believed the bombings were likely the work of al-Qaeda.

"It's too early to be certain, but it looks very much like the work of al-Qaeda," Mr Howard said.

Mr Howard said al-Qaeda was opposed to Pakistan's involvement with the US in the war on terror, which is supported by both Ms Bhutto and Pakistani President General Pervez Musharref.

"Benazir Bhutto, to her credit, as well as General Musharref, have both said they will continue to support the Americans in the war on terror," he said.

"It is a reminder of the evil of al-Qaeda. It is a reminder of how important it is not to concede a victory to them in Iraq or in Afghanistan.''

The biggest of the two blasts happened just metres from the truck carrying Ms Bhutto as it inched through crowds of supporters in Karachi, Pakistan's most violent city. The explosion shattered the truck's windows.

Bodies could be seen on the ground near the scene of one of the blasts. Pakistan television was playing images of mutilated bodies on the street.

An Associated Press photographer at the scene said he saw between 50 and 60 dead or badly injured people. He said some of the bodies were in parts.

An initial small explosion was followed by a huge blast just in front of the truck carrying Ms Bhutto.

Militants linked to al Qaeda, angered by Ms Bhutto's support for the United States war on terrorism, had threatened to assassinate her.

About 20,000 security personnel had been deployed to provide protection as hundreds of thousands of people took to the street to greet Ms Bhutto's convoy..

Intelligence reports suggested at least three jihadi groups linked to al Qaeda and the Taliban were plotting suicide attacks, according to a provincial official.

Ms Bhutto had returned to lead her Pakistan People's Party into national elections meant to return the country to civilian rule.

For years Ms Bhutto had vowed to return to Pakistan to end military dictatorship, yet she came back as a potential ally for President Pervez Musharraf, the army chief who took power in a 1999 coup.

The United States is believed to have quietly encouraged their alliance to keep nuclear-armed Pakistan pro-Western and committed to fighting al Qaeda and supporting NATO's efforts to stabilise Afghanistan.

Dressed in a green kameez, a loose tunic, her head covered by a white scarf, Ms Bhutto had earlier stood in plain view on top of her truck, ignoring police advice to stay behind its bullet proof glass, as it edged through crowds waving the red, black and green tricolour of her Pakistan People's Party (PPP).

Billboards along the route bore giant images of BB, as she is known, and her late father, Zulfikar Ali Ms Bhutto, the country's first popularly elected prime minister, who was ousted and executed by his army chief, General Mohammed Zia-ul-Haq.

"Now that the people have given their verdict, it is necessary that the elections should be free and fair," she said before setting off at the head of a procession into Karachi.

    China protests Dalai Lama honours

    October 16, 2007 - 9:10AM

    Retrieved from The Age

China is protesting US honours for the Dalai Lama this week by pulling out of a planned international strategy session on Iran sought by the United States, a State Department official said.

China objected to participating in the meeting on the same day that the exiled Tibetan Buddhist leader is to receive the US Congress' civilian honour at a ceremony attended by President George W Bush, the official said.

China is one of six nations that have offered Iran a deal to shutter disputed nuclear activities, and Wednesday's meeting in Berlin was part of the US-led drive to punish Iran for spurning the offer.

China is considered the main holdup to US plans to impose new United Nations sanctions on Iran this fall. China and Russia, which have economic ties to Iran, have gone along so far with an international effort to coerce Iran away from an alleged weapons program, but negotiations on the next round of sanctions is expected to be difficult.

The six-nation diplomatic meeting is still expected to take place, perhaps a week later, said the US official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

A spokesman for the Chinese embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but China has previously protested the US honours for a leader that China considers a separatist.

"China resolutely opposes the US Congress awarding the Dalai its so-called Congressional Gold Medal, and firmly opposes any country or any person using the Dalai issue to interfere in China's internal affairs," Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said last week in Beijing.

Liu said China had "presented a representation" to Washington over Congress' move, but gave no details.

Bush will go to the Capitol on Wednesday to speak at the presentation of the medal, whose recipients have included Mother Teresa, former South African President Nelson Mandela, Pope John Paul II and Ronald and Nancy Reagan. Bush also will welcome the Dalai Lama in the White House residence on Tuesday.

China has also recently cancelled December human rights talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. China was incensed by Merkel's meeting with the Dalai Lama last month.

China routinely criticises visits abroad by the Dalai Lama, who fled Tibet for India in 1959 during a failed uprising against Chinese rule.

Winner of the 1989 Nobel Peace Prize, the Dalai Lama remains popular among Tibetans and is widely respected abroad, despite efforts to undermine him by Chinese authorities.

China claims Tibet has been its territory for centuries, but many Tibetans say they were effectively independent for most of that period.

    untitled

Economy key to survival, Hu tells congress

    worldchineseman_wideweb__470x392,0 Retrieved from NY Times

CHINA'S Communist Party must rid itself of corruption and bureaucracy and continue the post-1978 economic reforms that had transformed its economy from one on the verge of collapse into the world's fourth biggest if it was to survive, President Hu Jintao declared yesterday.

Mr Hu's report to the 17th Party Congress opening focused heavily on the domestic challenges of ensuring continued economic growth while addressing environmental damage and meeting the growing expectations of a wealthier, more diverse and demanding society.

He promised gradual but steady improvements in the rule of law and democratic rights as well as a cleaner environment by 2020, when per capita gross domestic product is to have quadrupled from 2000 levels and China is to have completed its industrialisation to become a "moderately prosperous" society.

But the process of consolidating socialism would require "unremitting efforts" and a "dozen or even dozens of generations", he warned, urging party members not to lose sight of the fact China would remain a relatively poor country for a "long time".

On foreign policy, Mr Hu reassured the world it was not engaged in an arms race and did not pose a military threat, so there was no need to fear China's economic and political rise.

He called instead for global co-operation to take good care of the Earth by fighting global warming.

Mr Hu offered an olive branch to Taiwan, where former leaders have threatened reunification by force.

He offered a formal end to the state of hostility but a peace deal depended on the island democracy's 23 million people accepting that both sides of the Taiwan Strait, considered one of the world's most dangerous flashpoints, "belong to one and the same China".

Mr Hu's speech, marking the midpoint of his 10-year reign as leader of 1.3 billion people, emphasised repeatedly that the future of the Communist Party and that of China was indivisible, but the party's survival depended on how effectively it fought corruption and other "matters that cause strong public resentment".

The latter included demands for a healthy environment and basic public services. Mr Hu outlined greater spending on education and health to create a social safety net that would also help reduce disparities between rural and urban areas and between different regions.

"While recognising our achievements, we must be well aware that they still fall short of the expectations of the people," he said.

The congress, held every five years, will write into the constitution Mr Hu's "scientific outlook on development", which broadly seeks to reinvigorate the party so it keeps popular support through correcting the imbalances, problems and injustices from the past 30 years of breakneck development.

Economic growth remained the top priority, he said, promising to cut bureaucracy, government and party, and reduce overlapping groups and conflicting policies that hindered efficient government.

Stronger financial, legal, political and party institutions would be built or encouraged to accommodate the growing "enthusiasm" for political participation and to ensure central policy on matters such as environmental protection was actually carried out at a local level.

Mr Hu also announced that "in-principle" public hearings must be held before new laws and policies "that bear closely on the interests of the public" are formulated.

"Further reform in difficult areas is confronted with deep-seated problems," he said.

Modernising the weak agricultural sector was another "arduous task" as he outlined a new type of peasant, or rather the creation of agribusinesses, as the country continued to transfer its excess rural labour to cities.

"To stop or reverse reform and opening up would only lead to a blind alley," he said.

Whether Mr Hu's vision will be effectively implemented will become clearer on Sunday when the congress ends and the leadership reshuffle of the Politburo's nine-member standing committee is revealed.

    be happy

    from 6park

。。。if you don't solove it immediately i may have to speak to your team leader 的精神。。
    you know
some times we got be tough...

    March 31

    anyways。。。。

    所以 ppl see things differently....

    比如time management, presure management, networking....
    i don't buy it!!!
。。OMG。。。。。

    March 09
